Which New Zealand insurers publish real discounts, what those discounts are worth, and the changes that lower a premium more than any promo code will. Checked against each insurer's own published terms.
Holding more than one policy with the same insurer is the largest published discount available in New Zealand. Only some insurers state the percentage.

Disclaimer: Discounts are those published by each insurer and were checked on 23 July 2026. Every figure is a maximum, expressed as "up to", and what you are actually offered depends on the policies you hold, minimum premium rules and the insurer's own criteria. These are not quotes. A straight answer, because this is the most searched version of the question.
New Zealand insurers rarely run public promo codes the way retailers do. Where a code does exist it usually arrives through a specific channel rather than a search result: a membership body, a bank or telco partnership, an employer scheme, or a time-limited campaign the insurer emails to its own list.
Tower, for example, publishes partner and member discounts for groups such as Coastguard and HealthCarePlus members alongside its standard multi-policy discount. AA Insurance discounts are tied to AA membership. MAS is open only to medical, dental and veterinary professionals, and its pricing reflects that.
We do not publish codes we cannot verify on the insurer's own site, because an expired code is worse than no code. If you are hunting for one, the reliable places to look are the insurer's own offers page, any membership you already hold, and your bank or telco's rewards programme.
The discounts below are structural rather than promotional. They apply year after year, they are worth considerably more than a one-off code, and every insurer offers some version of them.
Ordered roughly by what they are worth on a typical policy.
Premiums for the same property or vehicle vary widely between insurers, and renewal quotes are not always the sharpest an insurer will offer. Comparing annually is the single largest saving available to most households.
Worth up to 20% at Tower on three or more policies. Several insurers also charge a single excess when one event damages more than one insured thing, which is worth several hundred dollars the first time you claim.
Moving from a $500 to a $1,500 excess commonly reduces a house premium by 10 to 20%. Only worth doing if you could comfortably pay the higher excess at claim time.
Monthly instalments usually carry a fee. Paying once a year is almost always cheaper overall, and the saving requires nothing else to change.
An inflated rebuild figure means you pay for cover you cannot claim. An understated one means a shortfall. Recalculating is as likely to reduce a premium as raise it. See our sum insured guide.
AA membership, professional bodies, unions, banks and telcos all run insurance arrangements. These are the closest thing to a reliable promo code in New Zealand, and they are easy to forget you qualify for.
